How to build a sustainable lab

Lab work is resource-intensive – a -80°C freezer consumes as much energy as a single-family home alone, and in 2014, labs already generated nearly 2% of global plastic waste. Change seems difficult – methods are established, -80°C freezers cannot be turned off, and it is not easy to replace the many plastic consumables used in the lab. In this talk, you will learn how to build a sustainable lab despite these challenges, and what each individual can do to reduce their own resource consumption.
